Dr. Özgür Çelik is a language educator, researcher, and project developer currently serving as an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instructor at Balıkesir University, Türkiye. His academic interests lie at the intersection of academic integrity, educational technology, and AI-supported language education, with a particular emphasis on fostering ethical practices in teaching and assessment.
With a career shaped by a commitment to ethical pedagogy and technological innovation, Dr. Çelik's work explores how artificial intelligence can be responsibly integrated into (language) learning environments. He examines how emerging technologies can support student learning, improve assessment practices, and reinforce the principles of academic integrity, especially in the age of generative AI.
Dr. Çelik has contributed to a wide range of internationally funded projects, including initiatives supported by Erasmus+ and The International Research Foundation for English Language Education (TIRF). He is also an active member of several working groups within the European Network for Academic Integrity (ENAI), where he collaborates with global experts to promote integrity in higher education and K–12 contexts.
In addition to his research and teaching, Dr. Çelik is frequently invited to contribute to academic conversations on AI in education, ethical assessment, and academic integrity. He envisions education as a space where human judgment, ethical reasoning, and technological tools can coexist to support student growth.
